PREMISE

This short film directed by Ruth Ducker (a sequel to her Isolation Animation short film) served as an insight into creative folks keeping positive while stuck at home during the pandemic. While most of us suffered a lot mentally, we all tried to find joy in the little things around us to keep positive - for myself it was my precious houseplants and jumping head first into the world of video games.

DEVELOPMENT

Although it was a very short-term, quick turnaround project, all animators had the chance to create concept frames and storyboards to support their ideas for their sections.

Staying within the confines of a given colour palette, I designed a dreamlike world split between the soft, daytime cuteness of taking care of my little greenhouse at home vs. the dark, moody, action filled evenings of logging onto the server and kickin’ some digital ass in my games.

In the storyboard it was important for me to depict the splitting of the two worlds gradually during the film, only for the two of them to blend in the most special way at the end, kind of like how all of time and space started blending into each other during the never-ending months of isolation.
